  • Lateral Transfer Process to Join the Maui Police Department

     

    At the Maui Police Department, we welcome experienced law enforcement professionals to join our dedicated 'ohana. Individuals from other law enforcement agencies or related professions who seek a lateral transfer must apply through our department's detailed hiring process tailored specifically for lateral applicants.

     

    We assess each applicant's prior experience and qualifications rigorously. To qualify, applicants must have completed a minimum of five (5) years as sworn police officers with powers of arrest within the United States or U.S. Territories. It is important to note that time served as a reserve officer or other unpaid peace officer positions does not fulfill this requirement for a lateral transfer.
