Fireworks

Updated: Jan 20

As the new year approaches, let’s work together to ensure our community remains safe and enjoyable.

We remind the public that it is illegal to import, transfer, sell, or use aerial fireworks without a permit. The law establishes criminal liability for a homeowner, renter, or person responsible for real property who intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly allows an individual to possess, set off, ignite, or cause to explode any aerial device while on the real property. It also sets criminal penalties, which can constitute a Class C felony, a misdemeanor, or a fine of at least $500 and no more than $2,000.

Additionally, consumer fireworks may only be legally ignited between 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

Please also remember that many in our community, including our kupuna, those living with PTSD, and pets, may experience distress from loud explosions. We kindly ask for your cooperation in celebrating during the allotted times only.

Let's work together to protect our neighborhoods and enjoy a safe holiday season.
